Overview

When making good beer & spirits, attention to detail, consistency, and passion are a must. Red River Brewing Company & Distillery is expanding and we’re looking to hire another assistant brewer who not only loves to drink beer & spirits, but also loves the science and process of making it. The assistant brewer will help brew beer/spirit washes, monitor fermenters/bright tanks, and perform general brewery/distillery operations to ensure consistent quality of products.  Length of workday will vary depending on production schedule but is typically between 6 and 10 hours per day, 4 to 6 days a week.

Responsibilities
  • Brewing beer/spirits in strict adherence to recipe specifications and defined procedures 
  • Running lab tests on products to ensure consistent quality and detect inconsistent or contaminated batches
  • Keeping track of inventory and alerting the head brewer when running low on materials and supplies
  • Assisting with prep work including measuring, milling, mashing, boiling, transferring, cooling, distilling, sanitizing, and clean-up
  • Racking beer from fermenters to brite tanks
  • Keeping the facility clean, well organized, and fully functional
  • Performing necessary equipment inspections and maintenance
  • Participating in beer & spirits tasting to monitor quality and consistency (and because its yummy)
  • Filling/cleaning kegs, bottling spirits, and labeling spirits bottles
  • Carbonating bright tanks and maintaining/monitoring the cold room
  • Monitor and make adjustments to the still
  • Making deliveries to wholesale customers
  • Represent Red River Brewing Company & Distillery at beer and spirits festivals 
  • Attend NM Brewers’ Guild events and NM Distillers’ Guild events
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Previous brewing/distilling experience preferred but not required
  • Basic science and mathematical competency, and mechanical aptitude
  • Safety oriented
  • Attention to detail and consistency
  • Punctuality and dependability
  • Ability to work well with others in a sometimes stressful environment
  • Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly and work on your feet all day in an often wet and noisy environment
  • Valid driver's license and high school diploma
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Reliable year-round transportation 

This is a year-round position with regular days off and little required interaction with the general public (very unusual in a resort town). Benefits include competitive wages, health/dental/vision insurance, employee discounts, opportunities for long-term growth, and beer.

Salary:  $15/hour or higher depending on experience.
